Upgrade to AVG Free 8.5

Prior To April 30, 2009

This is just the latest shout out about upgrading AVG 8.0 to AVG 8.5. You may have already received a notification box informing you that support for AVG Free 8.0 will cease as of April 30, 2009. This has been by far the easiest upgrade yet. All you do is download the file, scan it for viruses (as is good practice for all downloaded files) and voila. You get a message that the update will happen automatically within a few hours. This new version also scans your PC quicker than 8.0.

For your reference, we have listed the upgrading instructions directly from the Grisoft.com site. When updating your AVG to the latest program version, the update process may need to be started twice and the update may ask you to restart your computer. The full update procedure is the following: When you click "Update now" or the scheduled update is started, main part of the update is downloaded and applied. The Update Manager in your AVG will report that new update files are available. Your AVG will be fully functional at this point, but not fully updated yet. When the update process is started again, the update will be completed. A computer restart will be required, unless your operating system is Windows Vista. Please note that some AVG components will not work until you restart your computer. After the restart, AVG will be fully functional and updated to the latest available program version.

Do you want to double check your AVG Free Scanner results against another popular anti-virus program? We recommend that you try a free virus scan with Panda.
